  1. Diagnose

    Before touching anything, I find out what is actually wrong: crawl logs, network traces, database rows, server files.

  2. Measure

    I put a number on the problem so the fix can be checked against it, not argued about.

  3. Build

    I build the smallest thing that fixes it properly, then test it against the real site, not only a mock.

  4. Hand over

    I write documentation and build editing tools so the owner can run it without me.
